Sea Sponge:

The Sea Sponge is a very versatile tool.  I can’t ever imagine going to a job without one in my truck or van.

When purchasing a Sea Sponge you should look for a light colored sponge, the blonder the better.  Blonde sponges are generally softer and will give you a better look than just that sponged look.

Once you have selected your sponge, get it damp with water.  Turn it over to its flat spot and rip or cut open to expose its inside.  I call that the “belly of the sponge”.   If I am using the sponge for a color was this is were I will place my glaze and color.   I call the “face of the sponge” the front side  I use this side to clean up any excess glaze left behind or to remove something without messing up my application tool.

Blonde sponges are becoming increasly harder to find and because they are scarce  the cost has gone up accordingly.

You will find the sponges you purchase from Faux by Kathy to be of top-notch quality as we inspect each and every one.
