Mixol Metallic Effect Concentrates

Mixol's new Metallic Effect Concentrates create a wide variety of gold, silver or copper effects ranging from a light shimmering glitter to an opaque metallic-like surface.  These water-based tinting pastes contain a high portion of bronze, aluminum and pearlescent pigments.  They may be added to water-based transparent coatings to create a decorative finish or glaze.

The full range of 33 Mixol Universal Tints may be combined with Metallic Effect Concentrates to create an infinite color palette and a variety of special effects.

Mixol Metallic Effect Concentrates may be added to most water-based clear or lightly pigmented coating materials.  They will add metallic effects to decorative fillers, glazes, varnishes, wood sealers, water-based paints, plastic paints, acrylic paints, silk gloss varnishes and alkyd lacquers.

Maximum amount to be added: 10% may be added to varnishes; 3-5% may be added to clear coatings and glazes.  Add slowly while stirring.  Use a mechanical mixing device, if available.  Mix during use to maintain consistency.

White and tinted, opaque coatings may hide the metallic effect due to the high amounts of solids and other pigments.  Always prepare test samples to determine the end results.

Mixol Metallic Effect Concentrates are not universal tints like other Mixol products.  They may not mix readily with materials sensitive to water and a test is required to determine if they are compatible.  The test sample will also indicate the effect created by the amount of concentrate added.  Several coats of a lightly tinted glaze will produce a superior finish and may be easier to apply than one coat of a heavily pigmented mixture.  The base color of the surface will have a significant effect on the end results.

Like with any creative decorative finish, always test first to determine the end results.

NOTE:  Percentage values above indicate the amount added to a clear varnish by weight.  Metallic effect and color may vary from sample above if a different clear coating is used.

Mixol can be purchase from our store.
