KIM BACON
WALL EFFECTS
QUINCY, WASHINGTON
Kim was in the studio recently for the SALI Board of Directors Mid-Year Meeting. She created this beautiful leather sample board using a base coat of Duragloss tinted with Mixol #3. The texture was created by pushing a plastic bag into the wet Duragloss. After the Duragloss dried, Kim put down two layers of Liberon Wax, the first layer in Victorian Mahogany, and followed that with Liberon's Medium Mahogany Wax. To give additional depth to the finish, Kim wiped in a layer of Liberon's Black Patinating Wax, then buffed the finish to produce the sample shown above.
Immediate plans for this finish are two steamer trunks, and Kim's excited about finding other spots to use this beautiful texture. Wall Effects has been in business since 2000, and Kim is just making the transition into full-time decorative painting.
