Only Faux You, Inc.

“Delight them!”  This is what Sharon Damisch of Only Faux You strives to do for every faux finishing client.

Sharon has been delighting customers with her artistic talent in decorative finishing for more than 10 years.  Gaining momentum from a background in theatre set design, she began studying intensively under the instruction of Kathy Carroll at the Chicago Institute of Fine Finishes (CIFF).  With a firm knowledge of application technique, color theory and a wide array of products, Sharon took the leap and launched Only Faux You in 2002.

“Hearing a customer say, ‘It’s just what I wanted!’ is what makes my job so rewarding,” explained Sharon.  “I love to give a customer what they will truly enjoy and will make them happy.”

It is not only through her creative abilities that Sharon impresses her clients, but also through her exceptional communication and interpretive skills.  “It is extremely important to have a genuine understanding of a client’s needs and wants when working with their space,” said Sharon.  “I know I can design a stunning room, but it doesn’t mean as much if I am not creating the dream for my client by first exploring their needs and interpreting their ideas.”

Using the same technique and product, Sharon makes each space reflect the needs of an individual client.  In the basement photos, rich color was used to accentuate the backdrop for the eclectic theme of the family media room.  In another client’s living room, the color enhances the open floor plan and draws attention to the fireplace.

As most successful people recognize, there is no such thing as learning too much.  Sharon seeks out opportunities to learn and share her talents.   Sharon used her communication skills to assist Kathy in creating the “Managing the Business” chapter for the CIFF “Great Beginnings” course, which helps other students starting a career in decorative painting.  On the flipside, Sharon recently enjoyed learning how to use a new product, as Kathy took time to give Sharon a lesson in the open studio at CIFF.

Among working hard on the other projects that Only Faux You is absorbed in, Sharon is looking forward to volunteering for the Stencil Artisans League, Inc. (SALI) Convention next June in Chicago.  It is obvious that Sharon will continue to be a success with her high quality of work combined with her passion for true communication.
